Subio Platform v1.25.5867 Released — Native Apple Silicon Support and Analysis Environment Updates

Subio Platform v1.25.5867 has been released. This update modernizes the underlying runtime environments for both Windows and Mac, with the aim of improving security and stability. The Mac version now also runs natively on Apple Silicon.

We have also updated the default normalization scenario to better suit modern RNA-Seq datasets and included a Gene Symbol-based Platform in the standard installation.

Native Apple Silicon Support for Mac

Previous versions of Subio Platform for Mac were built for Intel-based Macs. Starting with v1.25.5867, the Mac version runs natively on Apple Silicon.

IMPORTANT: Do not update Subio Platform on an Intel-based Mac.

This version is intended exclusively for Macs equipped with Apple Silicon. We have not tested it on Intel-based Macs and cannot guarantee how it will behave if installed or updated on those systems. If you are using an Intel-based Mac, do not update to v1.25.5867 under any circumstances. Please continue using your current version. New installations should also be performed only on Macs equipped with Apple Silicon.

For Users of Intel-Based Macs

As a precaution, we have kept the updater for the previous version available for download in case Subio Platform is accidentally updated to v1.25.5867 on an Intel-based Mac. This updater may allow you to revert to the previous version. However, we have not tested this recovery procedure on Intel-based Macs and cannot guarantee that it will work.

If you are using an Intel-based Mac, do not update to v1.25.5867.

Updated Runtime Environments for Windows and Mac

We have updated the underlying runtime environments for both the Windows and Mac versions of Subio Platform. These updates are intended to improve security and stability.

Updated Default Normalization Scenario

We have made some adjustments to the default normalization scenario provided with Subio Platform. The previous scenario was designed for RNA-Seq datasets generated when sequencers typically produced fewer reads than they do today. In this update, we have adjusted the default settings to better accommodate modern RNA-Seq datasets with higher read counts.

Normalization scenarios can still be adjusted according to the characteristics of each dataset. This change affects only the default settings. Normalization settings already applied to existing datasets, including those currently under analysis, will remain unchanged.

Gene Symbol-Based Platform Included in the Standard Installation

Starting with this version, a Gene Symbol-based Platform is included in the standard Subio Platform installation. This makes it easier to perform gene-level analysis by summing Gene Counts associated with the same Gene Symbol when importing data identified by Ensembl Gene IDs (ENSG IDs).

To do this, select the Gene Symbol-based Platform in the Sample Import Wizard and set How to calculate signals for same IDs to Sum. For a detailed explanation of the rationale and an example of this analysis, see For Gene-Level Analysis, Sum ENSG ID-Based Gene Counts by Gene Symbol.

Update Subio Platform

To update Subio Platform, select "Check for Updates..." from the Help menu, or download the updater below and run it manually.

IMPORTANT: Subio Platform v1.25.5867 for Mac supports Apple Silicon only. Do not update on an Intel-based Mac.
